The bag that I use most often is my Steve Madden BRaquel Bag (sold out) just because it's the most versatile bag I own. It has a big zipper over the top, which is a must-have for me because I'm ultra paranoid, and it has lots of pockets in the middle. It also has a snap pocket on one side and a zipped pocket on the other. This is one of my favorite bags I own, and I'm usually partial to Steve Madden bags because they're good for sticking to trends for a few years without being wildly overpriced.
I tend to overpack in every sense of the word, so on a bad day, I'm carrying everything you see here. On a good day, I don't take a purse and I just carry my wallet, keys and phone wherever I'm going. But this is what I have with me on a pretty much day to day basis.
Especially when I'm in the city where my commute around town doesn't involve ME being in charge of a vehicle in motion, I'll pack a book in my bag. I've been bringing one wherever I go lately just because I seem to have a couple of spare moments to get through a few pages now and then. The current book I'm reading is Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. I consider myself to be an ambivert, which is a mix of introvert and extrovert, although most people just say I'm an extrovert who likes her quiet time. Whether you're an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert, I HIGHLY recommend this book. It's amazing to see how much pressure is put upon us to be outgoing from day one.
I'm good at making plans but I'm even better at forgetting them at times, so I've started carrying around my planner and a pack of my favorite pens. I also put plans in my phone, but it helps me remember what I have to do even more when I physically write them down!
I'm a huge wimp when it comes to the Atlanta heat and I've become pretty good about protecting myself from the sun throughout the summer. I try to always keep a baseball cap (this one is from a specific order, but VV's hats are great in general) in my bag to shade my face and I'm always wearing sunglasses (these are from a LA thrift store) if I'm outside of the house just to block my eyes.
I'm REALLY bad about keeping myself hydrated, but I'm literally always carrying this GPhi waterbottle with me. We got it on bid day and it's a nice reminder of such a fun day and it's a Camelbak, which is one of my favorite waterbottle brands (it's a tie between Camelbak and Nalgene if you're really interested).
I try to carry around a camera of some sorts at all times so I can snap pictures, but it usually just ends up being my phone. On any particularly interesting or artistic day, I'm probably carrying my Polaroid. It was a little late birthday gift to myself for my 16th and I use it all the time! I love keeping the pictures as little mementos and I like having the physical copies as well! I really like using fun/colorful film, so if you have a Polaroid, I'd recommend looking at something other than the film that comes with it!
I got my wallet about a year ago as a going-away gift and I absolutely love it. It's big enough to work as a mini-clutch and I can stuff my phone and keys into it if I really need to. Coach's website doesn't stock it anymore, but they have very similar ones (1 and 2)!
My keychains are some of my favorite things ever- they make it much easier to find my keys in my bigger bags and they're just a lot of fun. I have a lil' Barnard bear (whee school pride!!), one from Kudzu and a little Harrod's telephone booth that was a gift from a friend's trip to London. I keep all my keys on a Lilly keychain holder (she doesn't have the exact same one, but lots of other Lilly prints!) from PreppyPinkShop on Etsy. I love this keychain because it's big enough to loop around my wrist and it's bright and colorful!
