As someone who basically grew up in a rain cloud (Atlanta is very hot and humid 65% of the year), I've learned to spend a good bit of time every day on my skin. I personally have been blessed with relatively/pretty clear skin my entire life. I try to make a point every single night to clean my face and make sure it's moisturized, no matter how tired or distracted I am before bed.
I tend to separate my skincare products into everyday products and occasional products. As a broke college student, I never really take the time to shell out on facials or super fancy skin care regimens that involve any sort of real money or effort. However, because this is the skin I'll have for the rest of my life and I have the ability to, I'm willing to spend more money on higher-end products instead of drugstore products if I find that they work better!
Fresh Rose Floral Toner: I used Origins Zero Oil toner for almost a year, but I found my skin feeling really dry after I used it and often times if I had a blemish on my face, when I put the toner on it, it would burn. So I ended up finding this toner a few months ago on a trip to Sephora and decided I would try it out! I've fallen in love with it. When I was growing up, I used to use my mom's Jurlique Rosewater Mist and this toner reminds me so much of it. It has that simple rosewater scent and it always leaves my skin feeling super hydrated but super clean at the same time.
Purity Made Simple facial cleansing gel: I've jumped from face wash to face wash over the years and I've never really been able to settle down on one. Earlier this year, I was having a little spa afternoon with a friend at school who has the CLEAREST skin I've ever seen and I asked her what face wash she used and she recommended this one! As soon as I got home, I bought myself a bottle of it and I've become a complete convert. I love how fresh and clean this smells and my face feels clean and soft after I use it.
Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion+ : I absolutely swear by this moisturizer-this is one of my stranded on a desert island picks. This lotion keeps my skin happy year round- I put it on at night before bed and again in the morning and my skin stays happy for the rest of the day. If it's particularly dry out or my skin feels like it needs a boost, I'll smooth some on in the afternoon, but my skin is usually baby-soft all day long because of this stuff!
Atomy USA A.C. Solution: I've been searching for a good spot treatment for blemishes for years. I've been lucky enough to only deal with really small breakouts throughout my life and this really helps! This was given to me by my acupuncturist- I tend to break out in little tiny areas, with only one or two blemishes in a spot and this works wonders on all my breakouts. I'll squeeze two or three drops on a cotton pad and just dab it on my problem spots before bed and usually my blemishes are gone by the morning or mid-afternoon next day at the latest!
the occasional stuff:
Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil- I joined the argan oil craze back when it started and I quickly introduced my mom as well and we've both sworn by it ever since. I tend to have really dry skin in the winter and this pure oil saves it. Since I go to school in New York, the winters are much, much, much harsher there than at home so I constantly found myself reaching for this. I found my skin felt so much better using this than my usual moisturizer during the winter so I switched to this just for the cold weather seasons. During the summer and warmer months, I'll use this a couple times a week just to keep my face extra soft, or I'll use it if I feel like my skin needs a boost. I also use this stuff on my hair whenever I feel like I just need a little extra softness. Basically, if you want something to be soft, put this on it.
St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub- I finally bought this scrub in May after seeing it in countless magazines' beauty awards- A friend (that same one with the perfect skin) recommended it to me and I decided I would finally try it over the summer. I can't believe I've waited so long. I absolutely LOVE this scrub. It smells delicious, isn't too harsh when you're scrubbing your face, and leaves your face feeling fresh. I worry about overexfoliating my skin (on my face), especially in the summer, so I just use this whenever I shower, which is more and more during the heat of the summer. I'll just scrub this on and then do a hair mask usually and wash them both off together, so it sits for about 3-5 minutes when I'm taking a long shower.
Boscia Charcoal Pore-Minimizing Hydrogel Mask-I have a serious weakness for face masks. I'm constantly trying new ones, and I've always been a fan of Boscia's stuff. I'm a huge fan of their Luminizing black mask, which I got in a Sephora 500 point Beauty Insider gift box, but I haven't bit the bullet on buying a bottle of it for myself. I decided to try their hydrogel mask and I just keep picking one or two up every time I find myself in Sephora. They're great for little spa nights with your friends or just if you feel like your skin needs a little pick me up.
I have so many more skincare products that I want to try - like the boscia Green Tea mask, boscia Charcoal Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick Treatment, Tony Moly face masks, and Origins Rose Clay mask. What's on your list of favorites and to try?
