My hair has been through hell and back with me. I joke (even though it's not so much of a joke, to be fully honest) that I haven't seen my natural hair color in five years. I've dyed my hair so many times and many of those times included bleach, which I now seriously regret. I still dye my hair every few months to keep up my auburn color that I have, but I've strayed away from any colors that involve a seriously damaging bleaching process. I also have incredibly thick and curly hair, which often ends up in a rat's nest of tangles. I really try hard to keep my hair as healthy as possible, 1) because I want to reverse as much of the damage as I can and 2) because I'm in the process of growing my hair out and I'd like to start a healthy base! I use a good bit of conditioning products on my hair to keep it as silky as possible and because of that, I rarely use any styling product on it and I never really feel a need to style it! So this is what I use to keep my hair happy!
Fresh Out of the Shower
These three products are like godsends to me! My hair always feels super silky and smooth after I use any and/or all three of these.
Whenever I get out of the shower, I'll spray the it's a 10 miracle leave-in treatment (I use the one with keratin to help smooth out my natural frizz) all over my hair and then focus on the ends. This stuff is on the pricey end of drugstore stuff, but I absolutely swear by it.
I'll then mix in my palm about three drops of the Josie Maran pure argan oil and Garnier's Sleek and Shine Intensely Smooth Leave- In Conditioner. I don't like using the Argan Oil alone because it leaves my hair feeling slightly heavy and greasy, so I mix it with the leave-in conditioner to almost lighten it up.
I use these products to help keep my hair in check and smooth it out- so I don't use them every day, but just when I feel like I need to. As you can see, I'm a bit obsessed with Bumble and Bumble.
I've gone through about 3 or 4 bottles of Bumble and Bumble's brilliantine. My mom introduced me to it years ago and I swear by it. I don't really even know how to describe it- it's like a shine serum and a smoothing serum and a styling serum all in one. It smells amazing and always works to keep my flyaways and baby hairs tamed for hours!
I completely understand why Bb's Surf Spray is a cult favorite! I never spend as much time at the beach as I'd like to and this spray makes my hair look like I just came in from a surf lesson in Hawaii. It never makes my hair feel crunchy or dirty, just soft and super beachy!
I was just sent the Bb's Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer in a 500 Point package from Sephora VIB and I'm still testing it out! So far, I'm a fan, I just can't tell exactly what it does! It seems to smooth out my hair, but I can't always tell.
Because I'm trying to keep my hair as long and strong as possible, I do my best to take Biotin tablets everyday. I use the Sundown Naturals 7500 mcg and I usually take two or three in a sitting. This helps my hair stay strong, helps speed up hair growth and also helps my nails get long and strong!
In the Shower
I'm going to level with you- I'm not one of those people who showers everyday. I just can't do it- it dries me out! So I shower probably every other day or so. Once or twice a week, I'll mix these two conditioners (Aussie 3 minute miracle and ogx Moisture Surge Deep Treatment) in my palm and leave it in my hair for 2 or 3 minutes while I wash up and shave my legs. After it mixes with all the steam in the shower, my hair always feels much softer and rejuvenated. I've been using these treatments even more this summer since I'm always in the sun and swimming.
I'm a little bit of a sucker for trying new hair masks and toys so if anyone has suggestions, I'm always open to them!!
